EMBI℠ API License Agreement
This Agreement governs your access to and use of the EMBI AI Impact API (the "API") and the data it returns (the "Data"). By generating an API key or calling the API, you agree to these terms. This is a plain-language summary of standard commercial API terms — your signed order form controls where the two differ.
1. License grant
Subject to an active, paid API subscription and your compliance with this Agreement, EMBI grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access the API and use the Data according to the rights of your subscription tier:
- Developer. Internal use and public display of EMBI data with a visible "Powered by EMBI" attribution link. No redistribution, resale, or bulk export of the underlying data.
- Professional. Everything in Developer, plus limited internal redistribution across your own products and teams. No attribution requirement. No resale of raw data to third parties.
- Enterprise. Full commercial redistribution rights, including embedding EMBI data in products you sell, subject to the Fair-Use terms below and your signed order form / SLA.
2. Fair use (including on high-volume plans)
"Unlimited" and "custom high-volume" plans are offered on a fair-use basis. We may rate-limit, throttle, or temporarily suspend requests that are abusive, automated at a disproportionate scale, degrade service for others, or attempt to mirror/scrape the entire dataset. We'll make reasonable efforts to contact you before acting on genuine, good-faith usage.
3. Attribution
On the Developer tier, any public display of the Data must include a visible "Powered by EMBI" link back to embi.exchange. Professional and Enterprise tiers may remove attribution unless otherwise stated in your order form.
4. Restrictions
- Don't resell, sublicense, or redistribute raw Data except as your tier permits.
- Don't use the API to build a competing index or bulk-replicate the dataset.
- Don't misrepresent the Data, or present it as real-time when your tier serves cached data.
- Don't share, publish, or embed your secret API keys in client-side code you don't control.
5. Data accuracy & no advice
The Data is provided "as is" for informational purposes. It reflects modeled, plain-language signals about public concern and expectation around AI — it is not financial, investment, legal, or professional advice, and no outcome is guaranteed. You are responsible for how you use it.
6. Keys, term & termination
API keys are personal to your account and remain valid only while your subscription is active. If your subscription lapses, is cancelled, or you breach this Agreement, your keys stop working and access ends immediately. You may revoke your own keys at any time from the Developer API page.
7. Intellectual property
EMBI and its licensors retain all rights, title, and interest in the API, the Data, the methodology, and all related marks. This Agreement grants you a license to use — not ownership of — the Data.
8. Changes
We may update these terms or the API. Material changes will be communicated to active subscribers. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
